Bob Hoskins Remembered

bob_rogerrabbit Versatile character actor Bob Hoskins has died of complications from pneumonia and Parkinson’s disease at the age of 71.

Some of his more famous roles were for films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mermaids, Super Mario Bros., Hollywoodland, Mona Lisa, Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Doomsday and Hook.

A family spokesperson released that “Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family following a bout with pneumonia. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time and thank you for your messages of love and support.”

Hoskins was the recipient of an Emmy Award for The Street, won Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards and was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Mona Lisa. He was awarded the 2004 Richard Harris Award from the British Independent Film Honors, a Lifetime Achievement Empire Award in the UK and won the European Film Award for Best Actor in the 1997 movie 24/7: Twenty Four Seven, as well as a long list of other film and television prizes in the UK and United States over his 42-year acting career.
